Just Another Reason Why

Book of Moon stops Effect Veiler plays? Book of Moon can be activated under Trap Stun? Book of Moon is amazing.

Dissatisfied

...is how I currently feel about this blog. It's not because I'm not currently playing with GB. In order to become better at using GB, I feel that I should experiment with other decks to get to know the game more. The more different play styles I try out, the more familiar I will become with the various mechanics of the game. The reason why I'm dissatisfied is because I just haven't had time to play or do anything Yugioh-related. Senior year is a lot more stressful than I had believed it to be, since aside from all of the homework there are also college applications... which I have yet to get started. Procrastination is biting me in the ass, and it's beginning to hurt.

Anyway, Lanista isn't as bad as everyone says it is. Once it comes over to the TCG I'll probably go back to GB (I might play it earlier if the next format seems to favor it). It's just a great GB to have in hand as compared to Murmillo, Secutor, and Retiari. The more I think about it, the more I feel that Secutor does more harm than good now that Effect Veiler exists. Test Tiger plays are also easy to counter now, so they're definitely getting dropped when I get back into GB.

Icarus Attack, baby.

3x Dust Tornado?
2x Royal Decree?

I've been testing this deck during lunch against my friend who uses BW, and it does surprisingly well. Although neither of us have Solemn Warning (which I think would do poorly against this deck anyway), I find that practically all of my friend's backfield is pointless when I swarm with the amount of Special Summoning that this deck can do. I've read around and apparently this deck would do amazing in a format where lots of Spells and Traps are dedicated to negating Spells and Traps (i.e. Trap Stun, Seven Tools, Cold Wave). The Side Deck would have to be able to deal with Dimensional Fissure, however.

Chaos Sorcerer is so cool.

On another note, the Royal Lacooda Beat deck is amazing when I go first and open with Royal Tribute, Commandant/Necrovalley, and Lacooda/E-Hero, but otherwise it gets jank hands out the wazoo.

Lanista...

...sucks? It was expected. The rumored effect that said that its name on the field is Bestiari, paired with the CED-like effect, was beyond broken. Gyzarus could have been Summoned twice a turn. A build that included triple Lanista, triple Equeste, and triple Icarus would be decent if BfaDD was still at three. hmmmm...

A Couple of Things...

blah

After doing poorly for the third time this format (I have only played three times this format), I'm going to drop Gladiator Beasts for the time being. Trap Stun, Effect Veiler Royal Decree, and Cold Wave, although the former two can be useful in Gladiator Beasts, are actually detrimental to the deck's strategy. Also, I simply cannot beat the person who plays Gemini City at my locals. Instead, I'm going to jump on the Gemini bandwagon since Gemini Spark is so ridiculously good this format considering the prevalence of Trap Stun and Royal Decree (as well as Seven Tools, more recently). I'm not following the traditional Light Gemini Beat, however. I saw a similar decklist to the one that I'm about to present on Shriek a while back, and I've been wanting to test it out ever since.

I like to call it "Royal Lacooda Beat."

Monsters: 11
1x Malefic Stardust Dragon
3x Elemental Hero Neos Alius
3x Gravekeeper's Commandant
3x Des Lacooda
1x Elemental Hero Stratos

Spells: 16
3x Gemini Spark
3x Book of Moon
3x Royal Tribute
2x Necrovalley
2x E - Emergency Call
1x Reinforcement of the Army
1x Monster Reborn
1x Dark Hole

Traps: 13
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
2x Dark Bribe
2x Seven Tools of the Bandit
1x Solemn Judgment
1x Magic Drain
1x Dimensional Prison
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Royal Oppression
1x Scrap-Iron Scarecrow

Royal Tribute is amazing. The low monster count is obviously to prevent the deck from possibly losing advantage from the card. I'm going to test this next weekend. I've considered Hero Blast, but Necrovalley, which is really only in the deck for Royal Tribute, goes against that. Monster Reborn is still in the deck since it's a luck-sack card. Commandant is an awesome beater after Tribute...

Mini Monster Binders are so cool.

Dek Prot sleeves are alright so far, mainly only because they are so cheap.
